According to the CERT NZ Quarter Two report, phishing and credential harvesting remain firmly at the top of the list when it comes to cyber threats, with an increase of more than 132% of reported incidents.

Phishing and credential harvesting, along with scams and fraud, and unauthorised access, contributed to an estimated $2.2 million financial loss reported to CERT in quarter two alone.

This week is Cyber Smart Week and CERT NZ set the theme as “protecting your online self”.

An important step for organisations in protecting their systems is to include their staff in their cyber security initiatives and look at ways to increase their staff’s knowledge and awareness of cyber security, phishing and scams.

Because of the increased sophistication of phishing and scam emails, these attacks can bypass the security you might have in place as they often appear legitimate and important. This potentially leaves your organisation extremely vulnerable and it is often the quickest way for cyber attackers to gain unauthorised access to your systems or to hold your users to ransom.

Join us on 19 October 2018 for a free webinar to learn how you can achieve a successful security awareness program within your organisation. In this webinar you will learn about:

  • Common security practices your users are ignoring right now.
  • How to start with the end in mind and set goals.
  • How to communicate for success and win hearts and minds.
  • Pitfalls to avoid when managing a security awareness program.
