Recently Bill Tonkin, our Managing Director and Ashton Jones, our General Manager attended the RSA Conference in San Francisco.
With over 50,000 attendees and more than 600 sponsors, it was incredible to see so many people coming together to discuss IT Security.
Attending the RSA Conference was a great opportunity for us to meet with and discover collaboration opportunities with many of the IT Security vendors and other organisations who attended the event. It provided us with an opportunity to gauge how the New Zealand organisational Cyber Security maturity compares to that of global companies and to learn more about the specific challenges they are facing.
A notable difference between New Zealand companies and these global organisations is that they have a significantly higher volume of targeted attacks, seeing hackers on almost a daily basis. Some of the metrics of success these companies use is how many times unique adversaries return to try to penetrate their environments.
In New Zealand our customers are not seeing anywhere near the amount of targeted attacks. We believe this is likely due to the fact that New Zealand organisations are not as publicly known and do not present the same potential pay out for adversaries. We also believe that this could in part be due to companies not having the capability to detect attempts or successful infiltration.
Regardless of the reasons, speaking with these global organisations, it is clear that New Zealand companies should take the global threat as a warning not to be too complacent when it comes to IT Security.
At SSS we take IT Security seriously and we pride ourselves on partnering with our customers to provide peace of mind through the delivery of tailored end-to-end IT Security solutions.
We are excited at the prospect of bringing some new technology into the New Zealand market that helps with automating and simplifying solutions to some of the most difficult problems our customers face today.
